Russian Chancellor and North Korean leader gathered this Saturday (12.Jul) for negotiation with a focus on the military area
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was on Saturday (12.Jul.2025) with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Wonnsan’s North Korean city. During the meeting, the chancellor praised the alliance between the 2 countries, which he classified as a “Invincible Brotherhood”.
The visit is in a moment of narrowing of bilateral relations between Russia and North Korea, especially in the military field. Lavrov thanked Pyongyang’s support for the Russian offensive in Ukraine and said the 2 countries are united against “External threats”.
“Our Korean friends have confirmed their firm support for all the objectives of the special military operation, as well as to the actions of leadership and the Russian Armed Forces. In turn, we once again express our sincere gratitude for the contribution of the Korean Popular Army military to the successful Kursk region of Ukrainian Nazis and foreign mercenaries.”Lavrov told reporters.
According to information from Tass “Russian state -owned – Lavrov stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin said he expected more direct contacts in the future.”
Lavrov arrived in Wonsan on Friday (11.Jul), coming from the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Before the meeting with Kim Jong-un, the Russian chancellor met with North Korea Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui.
