Torre Pacheco in Murcia has lived for the second consecutive nightsticks and a lot of tension between ultras groups that protest the lack of security in the town. The Civil Guard had reinforced surveillance after the proclamations launched by Vox and other ultras groups against migrants. According to the local newspaper, several groups of violent (many of them, arrived from outside the municipality) toured during this morning the streets of the town armed with sticks and went to houses where they knew that foreigners lived. Podemos has denounced a “racist hunt.”
The Government Delegate in the Region of Murcia, Mariola Guevara, has confirmed this Saturday that the incidents occurred, which occurred after the City Council organized a peaceful concentration for the aggression to a neighbor. Guevara has added that no arrests are ruled out in the last hours and that security forces maintain an active device to prevent new clashes.
The concentration, organized by the City of Torre Pacheco to condemn an aggression that occurred on Thursday to an old man, brought together some 500 people in a peaceful attitude. However, several altercations were recorded during the night in different parts of the municipality. The Government delegate stressed that security measures in the area had already been reinforced with special units, due to mobilizations encouraged in social networks during the previous days.
The deployment of the Civil Guard will remain active during the weekend to guarantee security and avoid possible disturbances, according to the Executive’s representative, who called for calm and citizen collaboration. “Security forces will act against all those who alter public order and promise hate, regardless of their origin,” he said. Guevara also urged neighbors to denounce suspicious behaviors and stressed that efforts are focused on maintaining coexistence and security in the municipality.
The spokeswoman for Podemos in the Regional Assembly of Murcia, María Marín, has condemned this Saturday “the racist hunting that is being produced in Torre Pacheco.” Marín said Friday that “neo -Nazis and Vox groups were using the aggression against an old man of a malnacious to encourage indiscriminate violence against the foreign population.”
The Minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego, has also denounced the “racist persecutions” to immigrant people in Torre Pacheco: “The outraged and right indicates and her squadristas act,” he written in his account of the Bluesky social network.
For his part, Vox has continued to throw more firewood.
