Croatia hit the summer storms on Tuesday (July 8), which caused great damage in Split and Solin. The weather also showed its strength in the city of Rovinj, which is located in the west of the Istria peninsula. Just a day after the devastating storms, a frightening -looking phenomenon was created over the sea. Most likely it was a water column that people immediately filmed. A number of trees fell on the cars in Split. A podium ready for the open -air music festival rolled over to the busy parking lot. In the harbor, a ferry broke away from the anchor and carried by the wind crashed into the right side of the personal ship, which was shortly afterwards. In the shipyard, a crane crashed on the production hall.
The Franciscan church and the monastery of St. Anton Paduánský also suffered extensive damage. A short, intense storm, accompanied by tidal rain and hail, also claimed 24 injured. These were minor injuries such as fractures, bruises and scratches.
