The first lady republished on Sunday (13.Jul.2025) a publication of the Federal Government’s official page on Instagram in which she states that Brazil is written with s “sovereignty”not with Z, like international countries they usually write.
The campaign was launched on Thursday (10.Jul) to position itself on. The motto of the new communication strategy is Brazil.
“Brazil is a sovereign country. And a sovereign country is an independent country that respects its laws. A sovereign country protects its people and democracy. A sovereign country does not lower their heads to other countries. To be against our sovereignty is to be against Brazil. Do not move with my Brazil. É, my friend. Here the boss is us. Brazil is sovereign. Brazil is from Brazilians. Government of Brazil ”, says the campaign video.
Understand the tariff
The measure was released in a letter published on the Truth Social network. This is the document (PDF – 63 kb). The rates come into force on August 1 and will be applied broadly and automatically, regardless of the sector or the type of merchandise.
In practice, this makes products of Brazil more expensive in the US market, and may reduce the competitiveness of Brazilian exporters. Trump also determined the opening of a formal investigation against Brazil for commercial practices considered unfair, based on section 301 of the US Trade Law.
The US president also stated that any tariff retaliation by Brazil will be answered with additions proportional to the rate of 50%.
