Are you buying a bike? Check which one to choose

1. In the city

  • city bike

A convenient design with a well -profiled frame allows you to maintain a straight position while driving, so the back is less loaded. It is also easier to get in and sit down. The city bike is equipped with so -called planetary derailleur. It allows you to change gears during stop. It is worth buying for a bicycle, among others Shopping basket where you can also carry a backpack or purse. Lighting at the front and back is also mandatory.

  • flatboat

It rides it harder, but you can fold it by getting on a suburban train or using public transport.

2. Around the city and ground paths

  • ATB

You can bet on a “highlander”, i.e. MTB bike. If you do not plan to drive your wilderness and mountains, choose a simpler version – ATB bike. This is an amateur two -wheeler that was created for everyday or tourist driving.

  • gravel

It’s a gravel bike, but it is doing well on trips to the forest or in a city. It resembles a cyclist, but it has wide tires and is suitable for high speeds. Its great advantage is low weight.

  • Trekking

It is adapted for driving both on asphalt and in the field. This is the intersection of a mountain and city bike. You can easily take him on further trips and add tourist equipment to it.

3. For driving with a child

  • city bike

The low crossbow means that you can freely transfer the foot to the other side of the structure. The trunk and leg are factory mounted to the frame. L trekking for such a bike you will also mount a seat, and it will also allow you to drive outside the city. You will also install bicycle panniers here.

  • cross bike

An excellent proposal for driving in the field.

  • rower MTB

If you really like trips on the wilderness and intend to take your child in the car seat, however, you must choose the right accessories yourself, e.g. a trunk or a leg. Remember – translating the leg over the frame when a child is sitting in a car seat, it can be difficult!

  • Cargo bike, or rickshaw for children

Such a bike is perfect for transporting one or two children by bike. The seat is on the back and has a cover mounted before rain. If the bike is used to transport goods, it is a luggage gap, which is most often located at the front, you can convert into a transport cabin. Ricksha has a low center of gravity, so it is stable, because the children are definitely lower than in the seat. You can move on such a bicycle on bicycle paths in the city.

  • bike with a trailer

You can freely ride a bike on joint trips. Long routes and difficult terrain are not an obstacle.

Or maybe an electric bike?

It does not differ virtually from traditional models, it is only supported by a special engine. It is a solution for people who are less functional and cannot afford forced physical activity, or want to ride longer and further. Electric bikes are adapted to different surfaces – you can buy a city bike, mountain, trekking etc.

First bike for a child

Advises Maciej Dubas, owner of a bicycle store for children:

When the child is from the running bike, parents often do not know how to buy the first bike for a child. It’s difficult because the bike must be chosen so that the child is easy to control it. First of all, pay attention to:

  • child’s growth

The size of the frame and wheels must be adapted to the height and hypertrophy of the child. Sitting on the saddle, it should touch the ground with almost all your feet. Then it will feel safe. The smaller bike will make your child bend the knees very much, too big – it will not reach the ground. As the child’s time and skills pass, you can increase the saddle. Our child is to lean on the pedal, which is in the lower position, only a slightly bent leg in the knee. When the child stands, he supports his fingers on the ground. Then the position and work of the muscles are appropriate.

  • bicycle weight

It should be small. Let’s imagine that the child weighs 12-14 kg, and a 10kg bike is as if an adult man had a bicycle weighing 80kg. The child will not lift a heavy bike when he falls over. The 5 kg bike can already be lifted, switched, easier to get, move and brake.

  • security

It’s best to choose a bike with two brakes, on the right and left and the so -called freewheel. Once the brakes were in the pedals, now the brake handles are used to the back ina, and the child can spin freely. This is a great help and then an easier jump to a larger bike.

  • new or used

You can buy a used bike, although you have to remember that it will need a service. A bike is enough for a child for a maximum of two seasons, after which you need to buy another one.
