Brazil made its debut in the 2025 edition of the Copa America Women’s Copa this Sunday (13) with a 2-0 win against Venezuela, in a match played at Gonzalo Poza Ripalda Stadium in Quito, Ecuador.
With Marta starting the game between the eleven holders, Brazil confirmed its favoritism and maintained the positive record against the Venezuelan team. There are now ten matches between the two teams, with ten wins from Brazil.
The first goal of the match was scored 32 minutes into the first half by striker Amanda Gutierres. The Palmeiras player just pushed to the bottom of the small area’s entrance to Gio Garbelini from the right.
At 42 of the complementary stage, midfielder Duda Sampaio broke into the opponent area and expanded with a low cross kick, with no chance of defense for the Venezuelan goalkeeper.
In the next round, the national team led by Arthur Elias measures forces with Bolivia, on Wednesday (16), at 18h (Brasília time).
In nine editions of the Women’s Copa, Brazil was champion eight times and is the favorite to keep the cup again. The only time the title did not stay with the Brazilian team was in 2006, when Argentina was the champion and Brazil got the deputy.
