On the morning of Monday (14), a group of women from detainees held a demonstration in front of the headquarters of the Penal Police, located at Coronel Fontenele de Castro Street, in the Estação Experimental Estação neighborhood, in Rio Branco. With banners and posters, protesters asked for respect for the rights of the inmates and denounced alleged abuse within the state prison units.

Among the tracks displayed by the protesters, one highlighted the claim for rights and respect for the inmates, with the message that they do not seek perks, but that the rights of detainees are guaranteed, reinforcing that prisoner has family. According to the protest participants, the situation within the prisons has worsened, with reports of abuse and offenses against the prisoners, which, according to them, has also affected family members.
They claim that prisoners have been suffering abuse, including psychological. “This kind of conduct has not only affected the inmates, but also we family members are being treated as if we were danger to society. The real danger is the director who tortures the detainees with offensive and humiliating lines. Torture is a crime, just!” Says one of the tracks that drew attention in the protest.

So far, the criminal police directed has not officially commented on the accusations made during the act.
