The section of the road on Palackého Street in Košice and between the villages of Kostoľany nad Hornádom and Družstevná near Hornád in the Košice-okolie district are impassable. In both cases, roads were flooded due to heavy rain. This was stated for TASR by the Košice regional police spokeswoman Lenka Ivanová.
Police call on citizens to consider the need for their journey through the sections, or to use other, alternative routes. “At the same time, we call on all citizens for caution on the road, tracking the situation in road traffic and respecting the instructions of the police force members who are in critical sections,” added.
Firefighters also intervene on Palackého Street while draining the water. In the Košice region, two other interventions are currently registering in connection with the afternoon inclement weather. As the spokesman of the Regional Directorate of the Fire and Rescue Corps in Košice specified for TASR, Jozef Bálint is draining the water in the village of Sokol and removing the fallen tree in the section Svinica – Bidovce.
