Licensed federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) published a video on social networks on Sunday (13), asking US President Donald Trump to punish Supreme Court (STF) Minister Alexandre de Moraes and other Brazilian politicians with magnitsky law, which allows the imposition of economic sanctions on corruption or serious human rights violations.
In the video, he says politicians led by the PT, party of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, act to arrest him because of his performance on American soil. The licensed parliamentarian also published a photo of Vice President Geraldo Alckmin in a ceremony of inauguration of the president of Iran in which he is next to Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, suggesting that this is proof that Brazil is no longer a democracy and implying that the current management has connection with terrorist groups in the Middle East.
“I humbly ask President Trump, (Secretary of State Marco) Rubio, I ask you for you to apply the magnitsky law against these people. They are not ordinary politicians, they are criminals, dishonest people. Please do this to rescue our democracy, ”said Eduardo Bolsonaro.

Judicial persecution
For the licensed deputy, Brazil would not be a democracy also because of the judicial persecution against his family. “Almost everyone in my family is facing unfair judgments,” he said.
The magnitsky law was created in the Barack Obama government and underwent changes. This legislation allows punishment for foreigners who have severely violated human rights to have bank assets and bank accounts, and have the visa canceled and receive the ban on entering US soil.
To leave the list, it must be proved that it was not linked to the illegal activities that led to punishment, which has already responded in court for it or that it has changed significantly.

To impose the sanction, the US President must present evidence of violations of the US Congress, which evaluates what was presented. Trump’s Republican Party has the majority in the House of Representatives and Senate.
Bolsonarists want Alexandre de Moraes to be the target of the magnitsky law. In the video, Eduardo also called the judge “Crazy Minister”.
Eduardo Bolsonaro went to the US and called for an unpaid parliamentary license of 122 days in March to stay in the American country without losing his parliamentary term. He says he is in the US to combat threats to freedom of expression in Brazil.
