The traditional ceremony of recognition of the most veteran and meritorious employees of the Department of Environmental Protection (AAD) of Lithuania ended badly. Mandaugas Mačiulis, an official with 20 years of experience in environmental protection, talked openly about the situation of the department and did not hide his disappointment for low wages.
The Ministry of Environment also responded by recognizing that it is a long -standing problem and promising changes, as published by the media . He has reported that the man did not even accept the plaque they gave him. He threw it together with the diploma he received on the table the director of the AAD and his attachment, asking them: “Don’t be ashamed?”
“Did you miss the respect for 20 years and now you have noticed? I came to work with a degree, I finished a master’s degree and entered a doctorate. What has changed in all this time? I am raising two young children and I have no way to save for a post -life denture,” he said, expressing what I really thought in front of the department’s address.
Mačiulis is not only a long career conservationist, but also written about 30 scientific and educational articles. He also received the thanks from the AAD for saving a life. Last year, he and a colleague rescued a man who was drowning in a river.
Despite all this, the official assured the Lithuanian half to be tired that his work is only promoted with diplomas and badges, and that he can no longer remain silent. According to the officer, almost one in two EAD employees thinks just like him and believes that if the situation does not change, more employees will act similarly in the future.
