The young Brazilian João Fonseca, only 18 years old, reached 48th position in the ranking of ATP (Association of Professional Tenns), published on Monday (14), and first appeared in his career among the 50 best tennis players in the world.
The list was released after the Wimbledon tournament dispute, which ended on Sunday with the title of Italian Jannik Sinner, number 1 in the world, about Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (runner-up of the ranking).
João climbed six positions after the Grand Slam Londrino, in which he advanced to the third round, and added 1,116 points in the ranking.
The young carioca is now preparing for a series of hard court tournaments in North America that ends with the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the season, between August and September.
In turn, Sinner further increased his advantage at the top after becoming Wimbledon champion for the first time.
Eliminated in the quarterfinals last year, the Italian added 1,600 points this week, while Carlos Alcaraz, who defended the title, lost 700.
German Alexander Zverev, eliminated in the first round in Wimbledon, remained in third position, while American Taylor Fritz rose to the room, surpassing British Jack Draper, who closes the top 5.
The legendary Serbian Novak Djokovic, defeated by Sinner in the semifinal, follows as number 6.
Another American, Ben Shelton, achieved the best career place in ninth after advanced the quarterfinals for the first time in Wimbledon.
And Russian Andrey Rublev (n.10) returned to the top 10 after raising four positions on the list.
