Palestinian municipality chairman Mahmud Abbas called the Palestinian radical movement Hamas to release hostages introduced in October 2023 from Israel and handed over its weapons to the Palestinian self -government. He also stressed that

As the Times of Israel (Toi) reported on Monday, Abbas said it on Sunday in Amman, where he negotiated with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Wafá added that Abbas also called on the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons, an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the undisturbed entry of humanitarian aid into this Palestinian enclave. Abbas also appealed that the control of the Gaza band is entrusted to the Palestinian self -government. This is a solution that Israel rejects.
In addition, the Palestinian President stressed the need to implement the solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the form of a parallel existence of two states and called on to organize an international peace conference in New York.
Toi recalled that Abbas had already called for the release of hostages, ending the war and taking over the government in the Gaza Gaza Palestinian self -government, the invasion of Hamas into South Israel from October 20, 2023, sentenced for the first time in June.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, promised to defeat Hamas, has so far excluded any role of the Palestinian self -government in the Gaza Strip, but has not submitted any alternative. His coalition partners from the far right want to establish Jewish settlements in the enclave.
According to surveys, the Palestinian self -government is perceived as ineffective and corrupt in the pre -identity. Since 2006, parliamentary elections have not been held in Palestinian territories and since 2005 the presidential election.
