The Minister of Education, announced last Friday (11) an ambitious plan to universalize the federal program For all public high school students until 2026. This statement was made during the presentation of the Literacy Child Program in Brazil of 2024, highlighting the importance of initiatives aimed at improving education in the country. According to estimates from universalization of the foot will require a significant investment of more than $ 5 billion from public coffers. To ensure that this budgetary expansion is viable, the minister is in constant dialogue with representatives of the National Congress.

The foot was initially launched in January 2024, focusing on the beneficiaries of the Bolsa Familia program. In the second half of the same year, the program was expanded to include public school students who have active registration in the Government’s Single Registry of Social Programs. This expansion resulted in a significant increase in the number of beneficiaries, from 25,000 to more than 4 million young people from high school. Camilo Santana pointed out that per capita family income is the main criterion for active enrollment in CadÚnico, determining who is entitled to the installments of the benefit of the Educational Financial Incentive Program.

The main objective of the federal program is to promote the permanence and school completion of enrolled students, democratizing access to education and reducing social inequality among young people. Benefit installments, over the three school years of high school, can exceed $ 9,000, offering crucial financial support for families. This initiative seeks to ensure that more students have the opportunity to complete their studies, contributing to a more equitable and promising future for Brazilian youth.
