The São Paulo Metropolitan Region and Baixada Santista have recorded 623 bus attacks in the last 30 days. Authorities have already arrested 7 people suspected of involvement in vandalism. One of the most recent cases was on Saturday (12.Jul.2025), in the south of the city of São Paulo.

Second of “fantastic”, from TV Globopublished on Sunday (13.Jul), police investigations point to 3 main hypotheses that would explain the attacks:

  1. possible participation of the CCP (First Command of the Capital);
  2. Internet challenges; and
  3. The action of companies or individuals operating in the collective urban transport – this last, considered the most likely.

Delegate Fernando José Góes Santiago, responsible for the investigations, told the report that the suspects would be “unhappy with some kind of treatment they had been receiving from companies that somehow present themselves as rivals”.

A and the state government confirmed the more than 600 occurrences in the period of 1 month. July 7 concentrated the largest number of cases, with 59 records in a single day.

Police identified Everton de Paiva Balbino as a driver of a red car that, on June 27, near Congonhas airport, caused an incident with a bus and then thrown a stone that hit the face of a passenger.

Balbino was identified by the car, arrested and indicted for attempted murder. According to the delegate, this was the attack “which had the most serious result so far.”
