Until the notice, Southend’s international airport near London is closed, where a small plane crashed on Sunday afternoon. TASR informs about this, referring to Sky News.
The police in the Essex Countess said that the airport was shortly before 4 pm local time (5 pm CEST) to a “serious incident” participant in a 12-meter plane. According to the media, it was the Beech B200 aircraft King Air heading for the Netherlands, which crashed just a few minutes after the start.
The East of England emergency service reported on the X that there are several ambulances and specialized vehicles on the spot. A rescue helicopter was also present. There is nothing known about any dead or injured.
The eyewitness told PA that he was at the airport with his family at the time of the accident. According to him, the plane crashed into the ground with his nose and turned into a “large fire ball”. Shortly before the accident he and other watches waved the pilots who returned the greeting.
The Southend Airport is located 60 kilometers east of London near Southend-on-Sea in Essex. The nearby ragby club and the golf club were preventively evacuated. According to the airport website, several flights were planned for Monday.
