With this Saturday’s tariff round (12), which measures Mexico and the European Union (EU), 24 countries and the European bloc have already received letters in which US President Donald Trump, informs the rates imposed on each foreign economy. The documents began to be released last Monday (7).
The forecast is that charges start on August 1, but Trump left the possibility of negotiations. The Republican also threatens to raise tariffs if governments adopt retaliation.
In addition to the letters, there are also countries that have closed commercial agreement with the US in recent weeks. This is the case of the UK, which will face a 10%surcharge, but will have benefits in some sectors. Vietnam will have 20% tariff over almost all products, well below the 46% rate scheduled in April. China has negotiated a tariff reduction from 145% to 55%.
