A PGR (Attorney General’s Office) said on Monday (14) that the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) confessed his undemocratic intentions when he said in interrogation in the STF (Federal Supreme Court) have discussed legal possibilities to prevent the president’s inauguration Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

According to the document, the former president made it clear that “he would not submit to the constitutional rite” by directly triggering the armed forces commanders to present the exception measures.
In June, during interrogation in the Supreme Court, but, according to him, everything within the Constitution, discarding a coup plan.
According to Bolsonaro, meetings were held to discuss a possible decree of GLO (Guarantee of the Law and Order) No country.
The former president stated that the discussions were moved by concern for the stoppage of highways by truckers and the demonstrations in front of the Army headquarters, both movements headed by people who did not accept Lula’s victory.
Bolsonaro said, however, that all discussions were concerned with not exceeding legal limits and, seeing nothing could be done, decided to abandon GLO’s idea after some meetings.
Bolsonaro also confirmed that on December 7, 2022, the considerations of a draft decree in a meeting with commanders of the Armed Forces were projected at the Dawn Palace. But according to him, the discussion on the subject has already “started without strength, so that nothing went forward.”
“The very ambiance of the meeting revealed its conspiracy character: within the palace of Alvorada, with military advisors, the then president read the ‘considerations’ of a decree that provided for the arrest of ministers and the annulment of elections,” says pgr.
In a statement given to the Supreme Court, Bolsonaro claimed that the meeting was informal and that the text was never signed. However, for the Public Prosecution Service, the simple act of considering the use of force to reverse the electoral result already configures a crime.
“It is an affront to the legal good protected by criminal law the action of the ruler who, legitimately invested in power, tries, further, to subvert him by force,” wrote the attorney general.
Understand the context
The “journey of the coup” was reportedly presented by Bolsonaro to members of the Armed Forces between December 7 and 14, 2022, weeks before Lula’s inauguration.

Bolsonaro is also accused of using the public machine to feed misinformation and to omit purposely in the face of acts of January 8, 2023.
The process is in the final phase in the Supreme Court and, if convicted, Bolsonaro may face a sentence of over 40 years in prison. The defense denies the accusations and claims that the former president has always acted “within the four lines of the Constitution.”
