The Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Coins
Face of the new coalition in the capital will be the same: Carlos Coins. Agreement will be formalized next week. Isaltino Morais also has PSD support in Oeiras.
The current mayor of Lisbon, the social democrat Carlos Coinsit will be reappointed in this year’s municipal elections by a Coalition between PSD, CDS-PP and ILconfirmed this Tuesday the coordinator of the Lisbon Center of IL.
Rodrigo Mello Gonçalves confirmed that an agreement was closed between the three parties for a coalition candidacy in the October 12 elections. “These three parties are included in the agreement,” said the coordinator of the IL Lisbon Center, noting that the agreement should be formalized next week.
Carlos Coins had already taken over last week that he would try a second term ahead of the executive, not to mention a possible coalition.
“I still have a lot to give the Lisbon,” the mayor told.

In the current term (2021-2025), Carlos Coins rules Lisbon without absolute majority, after being elected by the New Times coalition-PSD/CDS-PP/MPT/PPM/Alliance.
The current executive also includes three PS councilors (elected five, but lost two after several resignations to the mandates, fulfilling the coalition candidacy list), three of the citizens by Lisbon (elected by the PS/Livre coalition), two from the PCP, one of Free and one of BE.
Isaltino to Oeiras and former Communist to Setúbal
The PSD announced on Tuesday that it will support the independent candidacies of Isaltino Morais in Oeiras – whose city council was again this month on suspicions of corruption – and the former mayor of the CDU Maria das Dores Meira in Setúbalhaving also confirmed the Luís Filipe Menezes in Gaia.
These decisions were made at a meeting of the PSD National Political Commission, which, through a statement, issued the list of the latest candidates supported by social democrats to municipal councils.
This PSD’s management organ also highlights the bets of Helder Sousa e Silva, former Mafra after, now to the Almada Chamber, and the social democratic deputy Cristóvão Norte to the Faro Chamber.
