Despite the willingness to renew the negotiations on the Iran nuclear program, it refuses to accept the conditions to stop uranium enrichment.

Tehran will not approach negotiations with the United States about its nuclear program if Washington is asking for the stopping of uranium enrichment in Iran, said the advisor to Iranian highest leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday. According to the AFP report, TASR reports this.

Washington and Tehran have led several laps of nuclear negotiations to reach an agreement when Israel interrupted them by attacking Iran, leading to a 12-day armed conflict. From its end, the US and Iran have indicated willingness to return to the negotiating table, but Tehran refused to give up its right to enrichment.

The condition of negotiations

“If the negotiations must be conditioned by the cessation of enrichment, they will not be held,” said Adviser Ali Akbar Velájatu according to the Irna state agency. He responded to statements by the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to which the date or place of the next meeting has not yet been set.

Iranian President Masoud Pezekijan said in a statement on Monday that Iran “supports diplomacy and constructive engagement”. “We continue to believe that the space for diplomacy remains open and we will continue this peaceful journey,” he said.

Trump resigned from the nuclear agreement of the Great Powers with Iran in 2018. It alleviated the sanctions imposed on Iran in exchange for limiting his nuclear activities. Tehran after the US withdrawal has ceased to comply with the agreement and progressed in nuclear development. Israel and several West countries accuse Iran for trying to get nuclear weapons. However, Tehran denies these claims.
