Former President of the New Development Bank (NBD), the BRICS Bank, Marcos Troyjo, considers that there will be more high administration engagement of the Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva government to bring the US fees closer-which should be 50% from August 1-closer to the 30% level, which was placed by the world’s largest economy for the European Union (EU) and Mexico.

According to Troyjo, the current scenario is an interesting opportunity for Brazil to diversify its trade partnerships, considering that now every US $ 2 that Brazil exports, $ 1 goes to Asia and every $ 100 that Brazil exports, $ 33 goes to China and $ 12 to the US.

Still, the former NBD president says he hopes that Brazil and the US will have the previous relationship again, as it is “a waste of time and energy-we have to do things together rather than imposing fares and restrictions on each other.”
