Gregg Wallace’s presenter made a statement on his social networks after receiving 83 accusations of harassment, sex jokes and racist statements. According to BBC News, an independent report confirmed 45 accusations against the presenter. He was fired from the station. Culinary reality producer Banijay also issued a report on Gregg’s exit. In the publication, he wrote: “For eight months, my family and I have lived under suspicion. Judged by the media, fueled by rumors and clickbait.” “None of the allegations against me were confirmed. I contested the question about the ‘unwanted touch’ but I had to accept a difference of perception, and deeply sorry for any stress I caused,” he continued. The presenter revealed that a late diagnosis of autism explains his perception of his behavior: “I am still learning.”

“I never intended to hurt or humiliate […] I also recognize that I could have done more for others and myself to correct these problems earlier, ”he added. He also thanked the support of the producer and some fans. Check out the translation of Gregg Wallace’s pronouncement in full below.“ None of the allegations against me were confirmed. I contested the question about the ‘unwanted touch’ but I had to accept a difference in perception, and I really regret any stress I caused. It was never the intention. I am relieved that the Banijai report recognizes that my behavior has completely changed in 2018. A little of my mood and my language ‘crossed the point’. I never intended to hurt or humiliate.

I have always tried to be warm and support MasterChef, in front and behind the cameras. After 20 years in the program, I now understand that some behaviors, shaped by characteristics that I only started to understand, may have been misunderstood. I also recognize that I could have done more for others and myself to correct these problems earlier. A late diagnosis of autism helped me understand more about how I communicate and how I am perceived. I’m still learning. Banijay offered me a great support. However, in the end, the BBC exposed me to the media and left a trail of damage on the way. ”
