The president of the STM (Superior Military Court), released on Monday (14) a demonstration of “unrestricted solidarity and full support” to the letter in which the president of the (Supreme Court), countered the sanctions announced by Brazil.
Maria Elizabeth’s demonstration is critical to the president’s imposition by one because of the judgment of the former president () and the regulation of the Big Techs. The position, she said, is in the name of the entire STM.
“The reality now experienced by Brazilian society, as well as the situations of tension caused by unreasonable and unpublished interruptions in the life of our country, were claiming a firm and courageous position of the Brazilian judiciary, which has the constitutionally guaranteed right to protect national sovereignty, the full functioning of democracy, independence and free manifestation of the powers of the republic, as well as to guarantee rights. Fundamental to its people, “says the text signed by Maria Elizabeth.
“Without a strong and independent judiciary, one cannot speak of a democratic rule of law or legal certainty, capable of offering society the search for their just realization and happiness,” he adds.
“Brazil needs peace to be able to promote its development with social inclusion, for what is desirable that this unnecessary polarization within our society is exceeded.”
The president of the STM says that in order for polarization to be overcome, “the contribution of our political and leader class has an important role to fulfill, with lucidity and accentuated public spirit.”
Barroso’s letter, released on Sunday (13), said that the sanctions announced by the United States is founded on a “inaccurate understanding of the facts” that occurred in Brazil.
“The different worldviews in open and democratic societies are part of life and it is good that it is so. But they do not give anyone the right to twist the truth or deny concrete facts that everyone has seen and lived,” said the minister.
Maria Elizabeth is the first woman to command the STM in over 200 years of history. She was nominated by the President (PT) for the Superior Military Court in 2007, and took office in March.
