The Pacific coast of Panama on Monday afternoon local time hit an earthquake with a magnitude 6.2 Richter scale. The authorities have not yet reported injured or property damage, TASR writes based on AP report.
The American Geology Institute (USGS) states that the earthquake took place approximately at noon local time (7 pm CEST). Its epicenter was at a depth of ten kilometers about 210 kilometers from the Punta Burica peninsula on the coast of the province of Chiriquí.
The shocks were felt by people across the whole province and adjacent regions of Western Panama. The area is known for its seismic activity. The authorities say that the tsunami is not yet threatened and will continue to monitor the situation.
