The president of the United States, Donald Trump, commented on Tuesday (15) about the imposition of the 50% tariff against Brazil. Asked about the justification behind the movement, the Republican simply argued that he has the ability to do so.
“Because I’m able to do that. No one else would be able,” Trump said in the White House. Asked if there was any reason for national security, the US President replied that “we have fares in force because we want tariffs and we want the money between the US.”
Most importantly, Trump said, is that tariffs can convince the country or the company to “build in the US, manufacture their products in the US, and this creates jobs.”
which faces trial for the alleged coup plot that would have tried to prevent the inauguration of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT).
“President Bolsonaro is a good man,” said Trump. “President Bolsonaro is not a dishonest man. He loves the Brazilian people. He fought very much for the Brazilian people. He negotiated commercial agreements against me in the name of the Brazilian people and was very hard.”
“I believe it’s a witch hunt, and it shouldn’t be happening,” Trump continued. “Look, he’s not, like, a friend of mine. He’s someone I know.”
