Over 1500 years ago, ancient Maya city of Caracol blossomed to a metropolis in the middle of the dense jungle in the field of today’s Belize. The city, named by the Maya Uxwitza ‘, was undoubtedly one of the dominant centers of the Maya lowlands with up to 100,000 inhabitants. It was not until 1937 that wood fellers rediscovered that the magnificent ruined site can still come up with pyramids, numerous steles and altars, a ball playground and several religious complexes.
