Declarations made in the middle of trade Brazil/USA – Trump promises 50% tariff for Brazilian products
Former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro said Tuesday that he is “in love” by President Donald Trump, the United States and US politics.
The statements were made during an interview with the Digital Power Newspaper, in which Bolsonaro also addressed the recent decision of the US government to apply 50% tariffs to Brazilian products.
“What’s going on in Trump’s head I don’t know. I like him, I’m in love with him, the American people, the American politics, the country that is the United States,” Bolsonaro said when asked about the measure announced by the Republican.
Earlier, Trump said he is not a friend of Bolsonaro, but once again criticized the investigation into the attempted coup against the former Brazilian president.
“President Bolsonaro is not a dishonest man. He loves the people of Brazil. He fought very much for the people of Brazil in the commercial agreements against me and was very hard,” Trump said at a press conference.
“I believe it’s a witch hunt that shouldn’t be happening. It’s not that … it’s not like a friend of mine, it’s someone I know. And I know him as a representative of millions of people. Brazilians are great people,” Trump added.
