The Brazilian government issued a harsh note on Tuesday that rejected what considered a “new intrusion and unacceptable interference” from the United States in matters of the Brazilian judiciary ,.
“The Brazilian government deplores and rejects, once again, demonstrations from the US State Department and the Embassy of that country in Brasilia that characterize a new undue and unacceptable intrusion in matters of responsibility of the Brazilian Judiciary. Such manifestations do not match the 200 years of the relationship of respect and friendship between the two countries,” the Ministry of Foreign Relations said in an official note.

“With regard to commerce, Brazil has been negotiating with US authorities, since March, issues related to tariffs, of mutual interest, and is willing to continue this dialogue, for the benefit of the economies, productive sectors and populations of both countries. The mistaken politicization of the subject is not the responsibility of Brazil, a democratic country whose sovereignty is not and will never be on the table of any negotiation.
Itamaraty’s note was released a day after the US State Department published a text on social network X stating that Lula and STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes have made attacks on Bolsonaro who “are a shame and are far below the dignity of Brazil’s democratic traditions.”
“President Trump sent a letter imposing long -awaited consequences on the Supreme Court of Moraes and the Lula administration for his attacks on Jair Bolsonaro, freedom of expression and American trade,” the text says.
