Snails will run away, where the pepper grows. All you have to do is scatter it on the beds

Throughout the summer, snails prowl in the garden and vegetable garden, eating plants, especially the young ones. If you have enough of them, then you do not have to reach for expensive chemicals that could additionally harm the specimens. An ecological way comes with the use of … basalt flour.

They are a real nuisance of gardeners. At discounts, they eat young leaves and flower buds. As a result, the condition of plants deteriorates, becomes more susceptible to diseases and the attack of other pests.

It is not better on the beds. Snails damage tubers and roots of specimens, but also eat fruit and vegetables. Therefore, complete loss of crops may occur.

How to recognize the feeding of these pests? On the leaves of plants, we notice holes as well as mucous traces. We can often encounter the pests. These naked, without shell, hide in wet and shaded places. They feed at night, so it’s worth watching discounts and flower beds in the morning.

Basalt flour is effective in the fight against snails, because it has sharp edges that prevent these pests from getting to plants. In addition, it contains minerals, i.e. calcium, magnesium, silica, as well as small amounts of phosphorus, sulfur, potassium, manganese, sodium, boron, titanium. They have a positive effect on the soil structure, which translates into a better increase in specimens, as well as increasing their immunity.

How to use basalt flour for snails? Just scatter the dry, white powder around the plants – We create a barrier from 5 to 10 cm wide. We spread the layer evenly. We apply this product on discounts and flower beds after each rain and watering, because it loses its effectiveness due to moisture.

Remember that basalt flour is dusty. That is why we have to scatter it in protective clothes, mask and glasses.

Other materials also discourage snails from getting into our plants. We will make effective barriers from crushed shells of eggs, sawdust or fine gravel.

It is also worth planting plants whose smell effectively scares these pests. I am talking about lavender, thyme, rosemary or mint.

We also recommend preparing traps for snails. For example, we can dig holes, put plastic cups into them and pour beer into each of them. Pests saved with the smell of alcohol fall into the trap. Then we just have to take it away from crops.
