Ministry of Ports and Airports will present a program until October 2025, according to Silvio Costa Filho
The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, said on Wednesday (16.Jul.2025) that the Federal Government will integrate the program into the waterway concessions of Brazil.
“In the 2nd semester, later in October, we will introduce the BR of the rivers to the Brazilian people […] That we can, within the BR of the rivers, dialogue with the need of the Brazilian waterway agenda ”, He stated during a press conference after the signing of the decree regulating the BR do Mar program in Brasilia.
According to him, the Ministry awaits the authorization of the TCU (Federal Court of Auditors) to continue with the program and the concession of the Paraguay River.
“There has never been any waterway concession in Brazil. We created a secretary and we will do this year. It has already been authorized by Antaq (National Waterway Transportation Agency), will soon be approved in TCU, the 1st Waterway Concession, which will be the Paraguay. said the minister.
Silvio Costa stated that the BR Dos Rios program will have a different approach to maritime cabotage, but maintaining the goal of strengthening the Brazilian naval industry.
