Regarding the reasons for the adoption of tariffs, public opinion is divided: 26% attribute the measure to Lula’s speech during the BRICS summit and 22% to STF actions against Bolsonaro. Just behind, there are the 17% who believe it was the influence of former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL) in the US and the 10% who consider the Supreme actions against US big techs.

The perception that the current president is responsible is higher among the pockets (44%) and who is not a pocket and positions the right (40%). Meanwhile, petistas and the leftist attribute responsibility to the former president and his son. There is also a question asked by the Institute about which political side would be “most right” regarding the clash between Trump and Brazil. For 44%, President Lula and PT are acting more correctly, while 29% point out Bolsonaro and his allies. Already 15% say that neither is acting well. The survey listened to 2,004 people from 120 municipalities between July 10 and 14. The margin of error is two percentage points, with 95% confidence level.
