There has been a retreat of 4 pp since the last survey; 43% said they approved the management of the petista
Quaest survey released this Wednesday (16.Jul.2025) indicates that disapproval to the government of (PT) fell 4 pp: from 57% in June to 53%.
Quaest’s survey was commissioned by the great investment. 2,004 people were interviewed 16 or older throughout Brazil, from July 10 to 14. The margin of error is 2 pp, more or less. The confidence level is 95%.
Here’s the July survey scenario, when respondents answered the question “You approve or disapprove of the work that President Lula is doing”:
- disapproval – 53%;
- approves – 43%;
- Don’t know/didn’t answer – 4%.
“What is noteworthy is that the improvement in popularity was mainly outside the traditional government support bases”, Felipe Nunes, Quaest director.
The main recovery was in the Southeast.
Regarding family income, the most significant change was among those who earn 2 to 5 minimum wages.
The approval is high among those who claim to be Lulistas and low among those who qualify as pockets. The biggest change was in the moderate sectors.
According to Nunes, 3 factors explain the improvement in the population’s perception of the government. They are:
- confrontation between Lula and US President Donald Trump;
- improvement in economic perception;
- campaign “us against them”Promoted by the government.
Most (79%) say they believe that the 50% tariff imposed by the US on Brazilian products will harm its lives. Already 72% consider that Trump made a mistake by imposing the rate on Brazil under the justification that there would be persecution of the former president (PL).
“The tariff against Brazil managed to unite the left, the Lulistas and the moderates (without positioning); but it shared the right and the pockets. That is, pushed the ‘center’ to the lal lap”Said Nunes.
ECONOMY
The percentage of those who said they considered that Brazil’s economy is unchanged in the last 12 months has remained the same: 30%.

The percentage of those who said the price of food rose.
“What changed for the first time in the historical series was the expectation of the economy next year: 43% say it should get worse. This change must be associated with the concern that Trump’s fares caused in the population”Said Nunes.
