President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), said on Wednesday (16), that he received with “deep sadness” the news of the accident involving a truck and two buses with students on BR-153, at Porangatu, Goiás, at dawn.
“In this moment of pain, I manifest solidarity with families and friends of the victims and colleagues, teachers and the entire university community hit. Families find comfort and protection to cross this difficult moment,” Lula said through social networks and a note of regret issued by the Planalto Palace.

The driver and three bus students died on the spot. The driver of the trailer also did not resist the injuries and died.
In addition to the dead, four serious victims were sent to the Alvorada hospital in Tocantins. Teams of the Fire Department, Samu and the concessionaire that manages the highway worked in the care of the victims.
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the buses were part of a train of students who had left UFPA (Federal University of Pará) to Goiânia, held at UFG (Federal University of Goiás).
