The mayor of Divinópolis (MG), (Novo), senator’s twin brother, appears in a video on social networks promoting a supplement that is not recorded at Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency).
The Monjaslim product promises to lose weight, such as the loss of seven pounds within 30 days, something considered irregular by Anvisa, which states that supplements are prohibited to be associated with drug purpose or therapeutic purpose.
The agency also stated that there is no supplement record with the name Monjaslim and its variations.
“There are a lot of people asking me: ‘Mayor, you have lost too much, used Ozepic, Mounjaro [medicamentos indicados para a perda de peso]’? No one sees the time we wake up and see physical activities. But what helped me a lot to lose weight was the Monjaslim supplement, which is 100% natural, “says Gleidson.
The video was released on social networks by the “Divinópolis Urgente” page and appeared on the supplement manufacturer’s website until last Monday (14), when it was deleted. The publication was not shared by the mayor on his social networks. Wanted, Gleidson did not answer.
One of the company’s partners told the column that the product regularization documentation is being organized with the responsible outsourcing and will soon be presented formally.
About the videos and the phrases promising weight loss, Carlos Eduardo Máximo Bernardo stated that they were “temporarily removed by legal precaution, while the materials are being reevaluated and reorganized after public repercussion”.
State Representative Lohanna (PV), the main opponent, called the Public Prosecutor of Minas Gerais to investigate the mayor’s conduct.
The action suggests that the video was recorded on the premises of Divinópolis City Hall, as the masts of Brazil, Minas Gerais and the municipality are in the background.
The letter asks that the mayor’s conduct be investigated and if there is a relationship with the company responsible for the product.
The main page of the product contained videos of people recommending the use of supplement and images of “before and after” of those who had supposedly ingested the product and lost weight. The product cost from $ 197 in a pot for 30 days.
The site, however, was taken down on Monday (14), after Youtuber Guga Figueiredo published a video in which he points evidence that people who suggested the drug sell these types of testimonials on the internet. He also stated that the images of supposed weight loss were copied from other places.
