The (Attorney General’s Office) stated that it considers the general’s report that he was unaware of an articulation to kill authorities and did not help finance plans in this regard.
The attorney general’s understanding is in the final allegations of the prosecution presented in the action of the (Supreme Court) in which Braga Netto, the former president () and six others are defendants for the coup plot. The document was filed on Monday night (14).
The General, who was minister of Bolsonaro and candidate for vice president on the defeated plate of 2022, denied in a statement that he delivered money in a wine bag to Lieutenant Colonel Rafael de Oliveira, suspected of being one of the executors of a plan to kill or arrest the STF minister.
This episode would have happened in 2022 at a meeting with Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, who was a helper of Bolsonaro orders and signed an award-winning agreement.
Sought, the general’s lawyer, José Luis de Oliveira Lima, states that “unfortunately PGR preferred the fantasy report of the liar whistleblower to the precise and clear clarifications of General Braga Netto” and that there are documents in the file proving that Mauro Cid lied about the meeting.
PGR’s text says that “as to Braga Netto’s claim that the meeting held at his residence had no conspiracy purpose, it is imperative to note that the visit of two ‘strangers’, taken by a lieutenant colonel to the house of a four-star general, without plausible or prior justification, frontally contrary to the rules of conduct and hierarchy governing military relations.”
“The narrative turns out to be even more fanciful, considering that the alleged visitors were military personnel of the special forces who had not even residence in Brasilia, and it is unreasonable to admit that they would have traveled hundreds of kilometers for a simple courtesy visit,” the prosecution said.
According to the agency “such circumstances reinforce the perception that it was a deliberately hidden and incompatible meeting with ordinary military practices.”
Gonet’s demonstration also questions a speech in which Braga Netto states that, despite being sought by Mauro Cid in search of money, he did not know the purpose of the request.
The general says that at the time, he sent Mauro Cid to the head of the presidential campaign finances.
“The version of Braga Netto initially draws attention by the evasive tone adopted when describing the negotiations. The defendant would have received a request for a significant amount of money without [nem] Do not even question the purpose of the request made by Mauro Cid, “says PGR.
“It is strange, too, the fact that Braga Netto allegedly directed Mauro Cid to the campaign committee, even without knowing the reason behind the request.”
The play signed by Gonet says that Braga Netto’s statement that it would not have delivered money those responsible for scammer plans are denied “by the simple fact that the action was performed by the military, who made the expected expenses in the planning phase (lodging, airline tickets, vehicle rental, purchase of cell phones etc)”.
“In addition, in none of the conversations analyzed by the police authority, it is indicated that the resources used by the black kids have come from another source other than that made available by the general,” the accusation says.
In a statement, Braga Netto’s defense says that Cid stated that the discussion of scammer acts in this meeting would have been after he left, to advise the then president at a virtual meeting, but “it is proven in the file that such a virtual meeting had taken place at 15h and Mauro Cid only arrived at the residence of General Braga Netto with the other two military around 4 pm.”
“In addition to the lies, during the trading, the whistleblower himself made it clear that he has absolutely no proof that, after this meeting, the general allegedly gave him money to finance any illicit plan,” says the defense note.
“Not coincidentally, PGR’s allegations do not have a single proof that supports these accusations. Interestingly, that PGR simply does not dispute or refute our statements about the lies and inconsistencies in Mauro Cid. On the contrary, it assumes that the whistleblower did not effectively collaborate.”
The PGR piece was delivered to the STF moments before the end of the deadline, which was at 11:59 pm. The expectation in the Supreme is that the process on the attempted coup d’état.
In addition to Bolsonaro and Braga Netto, they are defendants on charges of joining the central core of the coup plot: (Federal Deputy and former Chief of Abin) (former Navy Commander) (former Justice Minister) (former GSI minister) (former Bolsonaro orders) and (former Defense Minister).
All the defendants of the case respond for armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, coup d’état, damage qualified by violence and serious threat against public assets and deterioration of listed heritage. Added, maximum penalties may exceed 40 years in prison.
