The best cyclist in the world, Tadej Pogacar, suffered a drop less than 6 kilometers from today’s stage of Tour de France, at a time that could have seriously compromised his position in the race. Fortunately to the Slovenian, the fall took place in a softer asphalt area, which avoided injury and allowed him to get up quickly.
But the most striking was the gesture of rival teams. Visma, by Jonas Vingegaard, and EF Education, led by Ben Health, decided not to take advantage of the incident to attack. Instead, they slowed down and hoped that they will join the platoon again in an example of sportsmanship. The rivals gesture allowed Pogacar to return to the main group without wasting relevant time.
