Porsche 911 Portuguese who belonged to Ayrton Senna goes to auction

The car, with Portuguese registration, was recorded on behalf of a friend of the failed pilot due to legal restrictions. The iconic vehicle has undergone modifications over the years and will be restored to its original specifications, maintaining Senna’s signature in the driver’s seat.

Ayrton Senna, a three -time Formula 1 world champion, is an unavoidable figure of motor racing, just like Porsche 911 is an undisputed reference among sports cars.

This connection between two icons was also marked by a special model: the 1911 Porsche Carrera Cabriolet of 1987, which was part of the personal collection of the Brazilian pilot. And now this Exemplary is being auctioned in Portugal by SBX Cars, belonging to Supercar Blondie.

This Porsche, with Portuguese enrollment, was associated with Senna although he has never been registered in his name, due to legal restrictions for foreigners in Portugal. The record was made by his friend António Carlos de Almeida Braga, known as “Braguinha”.

During the time when it was in possession of António Braga, the car underwent some modifications, including wide-eager rear-fades similar to those of the 911 Turbo, a spoiler and a yellow painting.

This 911 was one of the vehicles used by Ayrton Senna during his stay in Portugal after the championships, being part of a collection that reinforces his connection to the country.

However, between June and December 2024, the Portuguese company ‘Love My Car’, based in Amares, will reverse the model to the original specifications.

A unique detail that still remains

One detail that remained always was Ayrton Senna’s signature on the driver’s backrest, an element that reinforces the authenticity and historical value of the vehicle.

This Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet has aroused increasing interest and is currently auctioned by SBX Cars, with a final offer of 70,000 euros so far, which is expected to rise until the auction closure, scheduled for 31 July.
