The position of the electorate occurs amid exchanges of accusations between President Lula and Trump. The US president justified the fare based on a supposed persecution of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) by the Federal Supreme Court. In response, Lula classified the measure as “disrespectful” and defended a firm response. The government also sanctioned the so -called reciprocity law, which authorizes equivalent measures against countries that adopt commercial barriers to Brazil.

The rejection of Trump’s justification is broad :. Only 19% see reason in the American decision. Between pockets, 48% reject this argument.

Most (79%) also believe that tariffs will negatively impact their lives. In addition, 63% reject the allegation that the terms of trade between Brazil and the US would be unfair, an argument cited by Trump to justify the measure.
