Rumble filed a new action against the minister (), which aims at the platform, asking the United States court to comment on the legality of the order and declares that it is invalid in the country.
The petition to the US Justice in Florida is also signed by the President’s Social, Social Network.
Moraes’s new decision was sent to Rumble last Friday (11).
The minister requests the total blockade, throughout the Brazilian territory, of an account associated with commentator Rodrigo Constantino and determines the sharing of user data under penalty of the payment of daily fines of RS 100 thousand (about US $ 20 thousand) from Sunday night (13).
Still in the early hours of Monday (14), Rumble reported the court about the decision to later supplement the action with a statement.
In Wednesday’s petition, the platform states that the order was sent this was done because the lawyers suggest that there was no coincidence on the date of issuance of the Order, but that it would have been proposed.
They also claim that the posture of Moraes contradicts the content of the letter sent by the Ministry of Justice to the US, revealed by the Sheetsaying that judicial decisions of Brazilian courts only apply in Brazil. The letter, however, does not enter any specific case and says the government wants to maintain cooperation with the US.
“Moraes did this a few days after President Trump’s letter warning of censorship and tariffs. This does not seem like a legitimate justice – it seems a personal move of power. And as far as we know, no one in the Brazilian government or the STF was opposed to what he did, or did not even know the order,” said lawyer Martin de Luca.
Companies claim that Constantine is an American citizen and that the platform could not send their data on penalty of infringing laws.
They also claim that Moraes’s decision is obsolete, because the commentator’s profile would be inactive in Rumble since December 2023 and because the company’s content has been blocked in Brazil since February.
“What we are seeing from Minister Alexandre de Moraes is nothing less than scandalous. He is not only blatantly violating American legislation, but is also ignoring the promises made by his own government and the basic rules that support any democracy,” said the lawyer.
