Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas was born in Rio de Janeiro in June 1975. He backed himself into military sciences from the Military Academy of Negras in 1996 and began to act in the Army Officer in the Engineering Sector


In 1999 he began his degree in Civil Engineering from the Military Institute of Engineering (IME). Completed the course in 2002 and officially became an army engineer


Still in the Army, he was head of the Technical Section of the Brazilian Engineering Company in the United Nations mission for stabilizing Haiti, between 2005 and 2006. He reached the patent of Captain and, in 2008, left his military career


He entered the civil service and began to act as a finance and control analyst of the CGU (Comptroller General of the Union) until 2011, when he became general coordinator of the area


In the same year, during the government of Dilma Rousseff (PT), it was nominated for the function of executive director of DNIT (National Department of Transport Infrastructure). In 2014, he was promoted to the director general of the agency


Tarcísio remained at DNIT until 2015 and left office after being appointed Legislative Consultant of the Chamber of Deputies for the area of Urban Development, Traffic and Transport


In 2016, already under the government of Michel Temer (MDB), he served as secretary of the Project Coordination of the Special Secretariat of PPI (Investment Partnership Program), responsible for the privatization, concessions and destatification program


In 2018, he was invited by then -president -elect Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to assume the Ministry of Infrastructure with the mission of finishing unfinished works and making a series of concessions for the private sector


In 2022, at Bolsonaro’s request, he dropped the infrastructure folder to apply for the São Paulo State Government. For this, it joined for the first time to a political party, the Republicans


During the electoral race, he was criticized for not being born and never lived in the state he wanted to be elected governor. Despite this, he was elected in the second round with 55.27% of the votes, winning Fernando Haddad (PT)


Among the main decisions made during his term, the privatization of Sabesp stands out. The action raised R $ 14.77 billion to the state government, about 20% lower than the company’s role price


According to a leaf survey, upon reaching half of his term, Tarcisio had 26 promises completed in the first half of his term; 55 in progress; 25 at slow pace and 18 standing promises


Tarcisio showed support to Donald Trump when the Republican won the US elections in 2024. He published a photo using a cap with the sayings “Make America Great Again”
