STF listens to witnesses of Filipe Martins and Marcelo Câmara

The 1st Panel of the Supreme Court (Supreme Court) holds this Wednesday (16.Jul.2025) another round of hearings with defense witnesses in the process that investigates the attempted coup to keep former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in power. Witnesses indicated by Filipe Martinsformer special advisor to the Presidency, and for MARCELO COSTA CAMERAformer assistant of Bolsonaro’s orders.

Both integrate the so -called “Core 2” of the complaint filed by the PGR (Attorney General’s Office), which describes this group as responsible for the “management” of the Plan “COURSE”. In all, 6 defendants were framed in this core, accused of acting to keep Bolsonaro in the presidency illegitimately after the 2022 election.

The hearings with testimonials of defense witnesses and accusation of nuclei 2, 3 and 4 of the criminal action began on Monday (14.Jul). The testimonies of core 2 are expected to be held until the day July 21.

According to the PGR, the members of this group played to keep Bolsonaro in office through actions that included the preparation of a “MINUTA DO HIT”illegal monitoring of Minister Alexandre de Moraes and the use of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) to make it difficult to access voters, especially in the Northeast, on the polls in the 2nd round of the 2022 elections.

They are accused of violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, attempted coup, qualified damage, deterioration of listed heritage and participation in armed criminal organization.

Defendants of the “core 2”:

• Filipe Martinsformer special advisor to international affairs: would have written the so-called “MINUTA DO HIT” and its legal grounds were presented to the Armed Forces officers at a meeting held on December 7, 2022.
• MARCELO COSTA CAMERAArmy Colonel and former Bolsonaro Orders Assistant: According to the complaint, coordinated authorities monitoring actions and passed on Alexandre de Moraes’s agenda and displacements to Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid.
• Mario Fernandesreserve general and former number 2 of the General Secretariat of the Presidency: is appointed as the author of the plan “Green and Yellow Dagger”, which provided for the execution of authorities. He would also have acted as a protesters interlocutor in front of barracks and pressured the then army commander, Freire Gomes.
• Silvinei Vasquesformer PRF Director-General: He is accused of commanding the corporation’s blitzes to make Lula’s voting vote, especially in the Northeast, and omission in the face of highway blockages after the second round.
• MARÍLIA FERREIRA DE ALENCARFederal Police Delegate and former SSP Intelligence Supplier: He would have coordinated, alongside Vasques and Fernando de Sousa Oliveira, the use of police forces to support Bolsonaro’s permanence in power.
• FERNANDO DE SOUSA OLIVEIRAPF delegate and former executive secretary of SSP: He also acted in the organization of the electoral blitzes and is accused of omission, such as Marilia and former Minister Anderson Torres, who headed the SSP during the acts of 8 January.

The hearings are held in the rooms of the STF’s attached building. Witnesses give testimony by video conferencing. Journalists are not allowed to record the sessions, but the records made by the Court will be attached to the process.

Core 4

Also continuing on Wednesday (16.Jul) the hearings with the witnesses of the “core 4” (misinformation) of the attempted coup d’état. Here’s the defendants:

• Ângelo Denicoli – Major of the Army Reserve;
• Giancarlo Rodrigues – Army Warrant Officer;
• Guilherme Almeida-Army Lieutenant Colonel;
• Reginaldo Abreu – Army Colonel;
• MARCELO BORMEVET – Federal Police Agent;
• Carlos Cesar Moretzsohn Rocha – President of the Voting Legal Institute.
