The Vice Admiral Ewa Skoog Haslum, head of Operations of the Swedish Defense Forces, has affirmed that the Russian attacks in the West are no longer isolated or small, so it no longer wants to qualify the actions of Russia simply of hybrid war, as published by the media .
“They try to attack Sweden by all media. It is already happening constantly,” he said. Instead of hybrid war, Skoog haslum prefers to talk about “destabilizing operations”, a term that refers to actions such as GPS interference, service denial attacks and the protection of the Russian covert fleet.
According to Skoog Haslum, people must remember that the operations carried out by Russia are not independent of each other, but are related to the same phenomenon. As a result, he pointed out that the Swedish armed forces are carrying out a “continuous operation” because of Russia.
“The Air Force takes off several times a week and meets Russian aircraft. The Navy performs maritime surveillance to protect our territorial integrity. Not because Russia violates our territory, but because, when Russia is in the Baltic Sea, sometimes we go there to demonstrate our capacity. As: ‘They do not attack us, because we are strong enough,” he explained.
“As soon as they end up in Ukraine, they will certainly seek elsewhere. We would like to know if it will be in two, three, five or ten years, but we have no idea. And why would they wait until we have reinforced our defenses? That has very worried that,” he said.
