The European Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in Bratislava filed an indictment at the Specialized Criminal Court on Thursday Against one person and one company for the alleged fraud with the European Union (EU) regional funds in the construction and administration of the kart center.
As explains EPPO on its website, in 2018 One person and one company applied for a non -repayable grant of almost EUR 200 000 from the European Regional Development Fund for the construction of a kart center in western Slovakia.
The accused allegedly submitted false statements to the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) that the Operational Center Operational System is used in accordance with the required conditions. However, it has been shown that the system was rented to a third party who was not entitled to a grant without the consent of the grant provider.
The accused faces a term of imprisonment of up to six years and a fine of up to almost EUR 332,000. The company is threatening a ban on receiving and support from EU funds for up to ten years and a fine of up to EUR 1.6 million.
