The former president () dodged any responsibility for the decision to surpass Brazil. He thanked God for the election of the ally and blamed the government (PT) for the commercial and political obstacle with the Americans.
Pressured by 50% surcharge to Brazilian imported products, Bolsonaro said he did not have “all this freedom” with Trump, but asked for his passport return to go to the US to negotiate with the Republican.
Even though he was quoted by Trump in the letter where Brazil was reported from tariff, Bolsonaro attacked the Lula government and said the tariff is not only being applied to Brazil – thus considering the rate differences compared to other countries.
The former president also ignored the sanction appeals made by the federal deputy (PL-SP) to the United States, where he has been pressing the US government since March to take action against the (Supreme Court) in the face of investigation of the coup plot that aims his father and allies.
“It is not with Brazil, it is with the world. Thank God Trump was elected, we can dream here in Brazil to restore our democracy. Eduardo is fighting there to restore our freedom, we have no freedom,” said Bolsonaro.
Bolsonaro’s political situation, accused of trying a coup d’état, announced the 50% surcharge on imported Brazilian products. According to the Republican, Brazil is doing “a horrible thing” with the former president.
“I think I would be successful with a hearing with President Trump. I think I would be successful. I am available,” he said, when asked if he had asked for the passport.
The former president said that the approval of an amnesty to those involved in the attacks on January 8-which could include himself-would not be much to reverse the surcharge to Brazilian products.
Bolsonaro also praised the governor of (Republicans), the target of attacks by Eduardo. The former president said the governor is doing more than the Lula administration, but will not be able to resolve the country’s situation.
“Tarcisio is doing his part, congratulations to Tarcisio. He is seeking the support of exporters, entrepreneurs, is an important voice, the state of Sao Paulo. São Paulo State has almost 40% of GDP,” he said.
“But it won’t go, Trump, in my view, resolving the Sao Paulo exporters issue. It is Brazil as a whole. Tarcisio does more than, I don’t even know the name, Itamaraty’s guy. It’s so insignificant that I don’t even know his name,” he concluded, in reference to Chancellor Mauro Vieira.
