China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Lin Jian, said on Thursday (17.Jul.2025) that the country is willing to get closer to India with the support of Russia. The idea of the Russians is to relive the RIC (Russian-China) forums, which have not been held since 2020.
Recently, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said the country is interested in acting as a bridge among the 2 Asian countries to reestablish cooperation. Although they are the most important members of BRICS, China and India have relations worn out by incidents in border regions.
By 2020, conflicts climbed among the 2 countries in Ladaque, which borders the Chinese province of Tibet, which caused RIC meetings to be interrupted. The countries concluded an agreement to end tensions in the region in 2024.
In addition to the recent history, China is an ally of Pakistan, a country with whom India has even more turbulent relationship. This year, in military confrontation, the Pakistani used Chinese jets to combat the Indian forces.
In conversation with journalists, Lin Jian stated that the approach to India through the intermediation of the Russians is of interest to the country. He said a good relationship is a matter of global security.

Partnership with Russia
Lin Jian was asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement that the construction of the “east” M-12 highway will continue. The highway is part of the International Transport Project “Western-China Western Europe”, which will connect Russia’s border areas with China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and North Korea.
Lin Jian said China welcomes the Russian interest of moving forward with the project and that the country is willing to physically integrate the region.
“China is willing to work with Russia to continue deepening cooperation in the transport area, explore the potential of traffic transportation, facilitate the exchange of personnel, increasing the number of mutual tourist visits and enriching the comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and Russia in the New Age.”said the spokesman.
