The government has announced that it will approve of a new extraordinary pension supplement and the reduction of the IRC. Luís Montenegro also said that support for travel will be extended to all teachers from September.
The government will approve a New extraordinary supplement for all pensions up to 1,567.50 euros from between one hundred and two hundred euros.
According to the announcement made this Thursday by the Prime Minister at the opening of the Nation State debate in Parliament, the supplement will be paid in September.
Also on Friday the Council of Ministers will approve a proposal for the law of IRC reduction to 19% in 2026, 18% by 2027 and 17% in 2028.
Luís Montenegro said that his expectation is that the IRC descent does not represent a loss of revenue. “When, in 2014, we first tried a measure equivalent to this, we arrived at the end of the year and had more revenue, and my expectation is that this year we can reach the end of the year and with a low of 1%, we do not miss the IRC headquarters. The chief executive said he hopes that the same can happen “in subsequent years, giving greater investment capacity to our companies.”

Support for all displaced teachers
Montenegro also announced that the government will extend support for travel to all public school teachers from Septemberafter this measure was implemented in the territories with lack of teachers.
The widening of the support, whose value varies between 150 and 450 euros per month, according to the distance, would only enter into force with the state budget to 2026, that is, from January.
The Assembly of the Republic had already approved in March – curiously with the Votes against PSD and CDS-PP – An extended compensation regime to all displaced teachers, regardless of whether or not they are placed in a school considered needy for lacking teachers, as provided for the measure created by the government at the beginning of that school year.
