Sena Madureira health authorities are investigating a suspected measles case involving a rural resident. As soon as the signs were detected, the appropriate measures were made, among them the collection of material with the resident for analysis.

According to Serginei Amorim, director of health surveillance of the Municipal Health Secretariat of Sena, the result should be known later this week. “We collected the material and referred to Rio Branco. We are awaiting the result of the sample that should leave tomorrow or Friday. Parallel to this, was made the vaccination block and monitoring of the people who had contact with him,” he said.

In 2024, Brazil recovered the measles’s certificate of elimination, but what worries is a recently occurred outbreak in Bolivia, a neighboring country. With this, there is a great mobilization in Acre to vaccinate the population.

In Sena Madureira, particularly, D-Day was held last Tuesday (15), where about 400 people were vaccinated. Other than that, it is important to remember that all health facilities offer the doses of the vaccine. They may immunize themselves, 6 months of age until 59 years old.

Measles is an acute and viral infectious disease caused by the easily transmissible morbilivirus that can reach people of various ages.
The main complications of the disease are: infection in the ears, pneumonia, seizures and nervous system injuries.
