Former senator Jorge Viana, and president of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apexbrasil), used his social networks on Thursday (17) to criticize the tariff announced by the president of the United States, Donald Trump.
According to Viana, the state may suffer losses over R $ 25 million if the measure is, in fact, implemented. Trump announced the fare in a letter sent to Lula last week. According to the document, the 50% rate will be applied to all Brazilian exports sent to the US.

“If the 50% rate is applied, the loss to Acre will exceed 25 million reais. It is absurd to see politicians in our state supporting unexplained measures of Trump, the same one that now wants to end the Brazilian Pix!”
Last year, Acre exported a total of $ 87 million, from that value, $ 4.5 million had the United States for destination. Among the exported products is soy, Brazil nuts and Madeira, said Viana.
Viana stated that negotiations between Brazil and the United States are already being carried out in order to maintain trade between the two countries.
“This is a moment of unity. We are here working intensely so that it has negotiation, so that this trade can go good for the United States, good for Brazil because that is what generates employment here, this is what is good for companies,” he added.
The former senator criticized the support of Acrean politicians to Trump, stating that the tariff is a “order” of the Bolsonaro family.
“Then we wonder, as some politicians in Acre, I think because of lack of knowledge or lack of character, they will argue that Brazilian products are taxed by 50% we all know that this 50% rate is coming to order, is an order from a family, is an order from a former deputy who is working every day to make the life of our country, betraying the homeland.
In response to Trump’s tariff, Brazilian President Lula signed last Monday (14), a decree regulating the so-called reciprocity law. If it is made, the 50% rate on Brazilian exports to the US becomes valid from August 1.
