The president of the United States continues to extend from the White House the limits of his executive branch, this time to change the formula of his favorite drink: Coca-Cola. Donald Trump has assured in his social network, Truth, that the company has agreed to sweeten its drink with cane sugar instead of corn syrup at his request. The Trump cabinet, with the Secretary of Health, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in front, has declared the war to the artificial sweeteners and dyes.
“I have been talking to Coca-Cola about the use of real cane sugar in Coca-Cola in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I would like to thank all those responsible for Coca-Cola. It will be a very successful decision for their part, you will see it.
In reality, the change does not affect its favorite version of the soda, the Coca-Cola Light, which has no sugar. The president ordered to install a red button on the Oval Office desktop that can press so that a White House butler brings one.
The company has not confirmed the change of recipe announced by Trump. A Coca-Cola spokesman, based in Atlanta, said in a statement cited by the Associated Press agency that the company appreciated Trump’s enthusiasm and promised that more details about new offers within their products would be shared soon.
The company did not give more details. The company has long pleased US fans of cane sugar importing Mexican coca-cool glass bottles to the United States since 2005. The Coca-Cola formula, therefore, is not unique. In different countries different ingredients are used and some of the compulsive drinkers of the drink appreciate the difference.
Returning to sugar in American production, however, could affect corn farmers in the country, whose crops are used in artificial sweeteners. “Replace the high fructose corn syrup with cane sugar makes no sense,” said John Bode, president and general director of the Association of Corn Refinators, in a statement cited by AP.
“President Trump defends US manufacturing jobs, American farmers and the reduction of commercial deficit. Replace the high fructose corn syrup with cane sugar would cost thousands of jobs in the manufacture of food in the United States, depress agricultural income and increase foreign sugar imports, all without any nutritional benefit,” he added.
Coca-Cola has tried to take care of its relationship with the president of the United States. The company’s own president, James Quincey, commemorating the presidential investiture in his second term. The company

Trump also managed to unite Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola in an advertisement in which the association of the sector praised the policies of the president of the United States and was published to any page in some of the main US newspapers.
“President Trump is struggling to grow American manufacturing. To give priority to US workers. To recover pride in products manufactured right here. This is what American drinks companies do every day,” said the text of the announcement in which the logos of different brands of soft drinks appeared.
