Whether you are a passionate gardener or just a taste enthusiast, tomatoes have a lot to offer. There are more than, from wild beads to fleshy giant ideal for sandwich. Among these treasures are hidden also those that not only taste great, but can handle the whims of weather or limited growing conditions. More and more growers also reach for unusual species that have character and flair. So what is it worth trying?
Tomatoes that will surprise both in appearance and taste
Amber Goldrone stick variety will get you for the first tasting. Small round tomatoes with solid skin are sweet, juicy and ripen among the first. Although, like most outdoor varieties, they suffer from different types of molds and diseases, they can resist surprisingly for a long time. In the greenhouse they have a higher chance of survival and rich harvest. They are excellent in salads or just to be penetrated.

Old variety Girl’s breast will please not only the name but also the shape. The fruits resemble pointed apricots, have butter flesh and are excellent fresh and baked. Girls’ breast is a stick variety that needs support and regular loss. The variety is not extremely early or mold resistant, but in good conditions, ideally in the greenhouse, will reward you with a truly exceptional taste and rich crop.
How to grow these tomato treasures
Unusual varieties often require specific conditions. While Balcony species like Vilma or Bajaja can handle a shallow boxmore fleshy and bred types will appreciate a sunny greenhouse and regular fertilization. When growing outdoors, always take into account the risk of molds: Sarce the early varieties before it appears, protect the late foil or greenhouse.
Many unusual varieties, for example Stupic field, coral or wild gold, are the so -called heirloom, ie traditional varieties without genetic intervention. You can easily keep your own seeds for the next year. Just choose healthy, fully mature fruits, fuel and dry the seeds. Do not do it for hybrids, because you never grow the same plant from the seeds.

And how to take care of tomatoes? Remember that tomatoes do not like waterlogging. Water to the roots, ideally in the morning, and keep the leaves dry. This will reduce the risk of molds. The rod varieties need to tap and regularly. And most importantly, harvest regularly! Overripe fruits attract pests and unnecessarily weaken the plant.
