Behind the scenes of the Bandeirantes Palace, the understanding was that a ‘rest’ was necessary in the image of the governor
São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas canceled the weekend commitments after difficult days in politics. The forecast was to disembark from the chief executive of São Paulo, this Friday (18), in Cuiabá (MT), for a lecture at the Federation of Industries of Mato Grosso (Fiemt), as well as a wedding and personal commitments on Saturday (19), but the agendas were canceled earlier this afternoon.
Officially, the governor claimed unforeseen events. In a statement, Fiemt and the Brazilian Entrepreneurs Group reported “which business meeting was canceled due to an unforeseen event on the agenda of the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, who would participate in the event as a speaker” and complete: “The event will be held in a new date, which will be informed in due course”.
Already behind the scenes of the Bandeirantes Palace, the understanding was that a “rest” was necessary in the image of the governor. The posture of appearing less in the spotlight has come since the beginning of the week, with criticism of Tarcisio’s stance to Donald Trump’s tariff-allies claim that the governor “caught” both the right and left-and now intensified with the operation of the Federal Police that changed former President Jair Bolsonaro under command of the Supreme Court (STF).
The idea is that the image of the governor rests of controversies. He should continue to avoid talking to the press in the coming days and also attending events that cause “tight skirts” with allies. The schedule is expected to resume on Monday, with commitments in the city of Bebedouro, in the interior of the state.
